While  doing the right thing in today's troubled times is definitely not easy or convenient, doing the right thing has the greatest impact on others. It reaffirms our faith in God and helps us sleep soundly at night knowing that we have preserved our integrity. If you are unsure about what the right thing to do, the Bible can guide you.

When you do the right thing, you may find yourself standing alone. In such times we can draw inspiration from the examples the Bible give us.

The most prominent example is that of Job. He suffered more than what we will have to bear in our lifetime. Not only did he lose his wealth and his children, his own mislead wife came along and tried to convince him to curse God. What did this resolute man do? He refused to speak against the Lord. This show us how we should conduct ourselves in adversity. The kewy is to nut succumb to peer pressure or what society tells us to do.

Another incident worth citing, involves Paul and Silas being prisoners. While they were locked in prison, there was an earthquake and the walls came crashing down. This would have been interpreted as an open door from God, however Paul and Silas did the right thing and remained knowing that the life of an innocent jailer was at stake. The result? The jailer became a believer. Thus if we are in doubt whether are action is right, we must consider
the repercussions of our deed on others.

Daniel refused to stop praying to God even though the law in Babylon, put anyone who prayed to their own God, to death in a lion’s den. It is worth noting that Daniel disobeyed the law of the land so that he could maintain communications with God. Altough we are not condoning illegal deed, it is possible that the world may be on the wrong path, while your instinct will tell you what is right.

Take the example of Jesus. He was beaten and died on the cross. Did he become a bitter and cynical man complaining that nobody except him had the strength and gumption to do what is right? No.His example, inspires us to be courageous and stand firm by what we believe is right.

In our everyday life, we face many situations that make us dwell on what is right or wrong.
Have you ever received too much change back at the grocery store? Have you ever been tempted to exaggerate your qualifications on a resume in order to get a job? Have you ever spent time praying on the job instead of working as your employer is paying you to? Have you ever been tempted to make jokes with others about the new co-worker who has struggles with his or her weight?

The answer to such dilemmas, is to look within yourself and listen to your inner voice. While you will not often be applauded for doing the right thing, your self-worth will increase and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are a person of character.
