One of the relatively new industry online is the Web hosting. With the expansion of internet, and subsequently increase in the number of domain names, has led to an increase in the online businesses . Most of these businesses offers services to support what we now know as the internet.
Most web developers feel that web hosting industry is one of the most profitable industry to succeed. Although, it faces fierce competition and highly partisan consumer base. Reputation and word-of-mouth is considered to be more fruitful than traditional methods of advertising.
At times, a single comment like "this web host sucks" , can scare away thousands of potential clients. Even a bad experience with a customer can divert other potential users from the website, as it creates a "thread" in a popular online forum to complain of the service. However, it may not prove as a game breaker but if the trend continues
it can cause the downfall of a web hosting company. Despite, all these factors certain companies have been able to earn huge profits and succeed quite well.
Studies also reveal that there has been a staggering growth rate among medium to large sized web hosting companies. Hence, even if the US economy is facing a recession, would not effect the demand in other countries. Some call this phenomena as "plateau" within American web hosting. Wherein, a company build a reputation that causes most customers to stay on.
To avoid future lose of growth rate, most large web hosting are offering in some of the larger foreign markets to stay competitive. Certain companies have already started following this pattern, as they believe if they wouldn't follow this pattern they may lose their competitive edge.
Hence, we can conclude by saying that, when American consumer demand reaches a "plateau" phase,expect the thriving web hosts to have moved into foreign markets.
