Many of us pour in a lot of effort for the maintenance of our vehicle We know what is vital to the operation of our vehicles but sometimes it is nice to know why. Here, we have discussed why spark plugs should be cleaned on a regular basis.

A perfectly running engine, requires two things- fuel and air in the correct ratio, and a spark to ignite the mixture. The onboard computer tells the spark plug to allow enough electricity to "jump" the gap between the two conductors and deliver a high voltage of electricity. This creates a spark that ignites the fuel/air compressed in the cylinder. Thus the spark plug is crucial in getting the motor started and keeping the vehicle running with its power.

You need to ensure that all your spark plugs are kept clean and that they are gapped just right
when they are changed. This is because the engine would not run if your spark plugs are dirty. If spark plugs are dirty, too much gasoline or too much air will be released, which puts a strain on the amount of fuel used in order to start your vehicle.

The spark plug has a wire called an ignition wire . This wire delivers the high voltage of electricity which in turn ignites the fuel that is compressed in the cylinder thus kick starting the engine.

The bottom line is that in order to keep the cost of fuel down and get a better gas mileage ,you should ensure that you have clean efficient spark plugs in your vehicle. There is no need to change your spark plugs every week because they last a long time. Make sure to have your spark plugs checked at least twice a year. Also if your vehicle gives a rough start, have the spark plugs checked immediately.
