A sequence of mental events leading to changes in the learning is described as learning. It occupies an important place in everybody’s life. You can not confine the process of learning to a particular age as it is a life long process. Without learning, all the efforts put by an individual go waste. Often people are overconfident that they have learnt something but at the time of implementation, they simply can’t recall.

There are different types of learning:

Stimulus
It is also called as response learning as it deals with association of one event with another highly desired event that results in showing a desired behavior. This desired behavior is learning. In this learning, if something happens, we react in a particular manner. This shows our reflexive behavior.

Trial Error Learning
There are many discoveries and inventions in the world, which are the result of trial and error learning. It is effective only if it is coupled with insight.

Chain Learning
There are certain things that can be learnt in a chain. For example, driving a motor consists of different stems and you need to learn each step as it is linked with another.

Concept Learning
By finding common features between2 or more things, you come out with a concept. For example, tomato and brinjal, red chillies and potato belong to the same plant family. Thus, it becomes difficult to learn about individual members. But if we learn the common features of the plant family and the minor differences
between individual members. It will help in knowing all the features of all the members,

Observational Learning
Observational learning is the result of watching the behavior of other person and finding out the consequences of that behavior,

Operant Learning
Past experiences play an important role in this type of learning. And if the consequences are positive, then behavior is repeated.

There are times when we keep trying to learn, but fail to achieve any progress even after making several attempts. Such situation arises due to:
  • Lack of interest
  • Difficult subject
  • Bad posture
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of maturity of the learner in relation to the complexity of task
  • Concept not clear
Improve Your Learning

It is often said that you can take the horse to water but you can not force him to drink it. Same applies to individuals. You can not force someone to learn unless the person has the desire to learn. There are some techniques to improve your learning:
  • Brain retains meaningful matter more in comparison to the confusing one.
  • Things which strike the eye, reach the brain easily.
  • You approach to learning should always be logical-cum-psychological
  • Forming associations is an easy method of learning
  • Learning by doing
  • All the concepts should be clear
  • You should learn small things as a whole
  • Partial similarity can be of great help
It is possible to learn a lot under toughest situations provided we know the proper way of learning things. Only learning is not sufficient, it should be transferred in domestic and professional life.
